Hotels in Propriano: where to stay, area by area

The port on foot or the beaches of the gulf: the Valinco is best chosen area by area.

Best for

Propriano is the most practical base on the Gulf of Valinco, and its accommodation follows the curve of the bay. In the centre, near the port, you will find hotels and apartments within walking distance of the restaurants and ferries. Along the southern beaches, towards Capu Laurosu and Portigliolo, it is mostly guest houses. On the north side of the gulf, Olmeto and its beach, then the resort of Porto-Pollo, offer a mix of hotels, holiday residences and villas.

The choice comes down mainly to the car. In the centre you will not need it day to day, and in summer it is best left at the entrance to town. As soon as you move further out, it becomes necessary: in return, you gain peace and quiet and the sea on your doorstep. Porto-Pollo, on the north shore, is popular with families.

1The town centre and port

Within walking distance of the restaurants and boats, convenient if you arrive by ferry.

The centre is small: in summer, park at the entrance to the town and do the rest on foot. The quays are at their best at the end of the day.

2The southern beaches

Along Capu Laurosu and Portigliolo, right by the water.

The beaches stretch for several kilometres of sand below the town, so the centre and its restaurants are never far. Book early for the summer, especially by the water.

Best for : near the beach

No hotel here: two guest houses and a holiday complex. U Livanti, about 4 km from the port, is the furthest from the centre.

3Olmeto and Olmeto-Plage

On the north side of the gulf, a hilltop village and its beach, both quieter.

The village of Olmeto is about 10 minutes from Propriano, outside summer and without stopping. You need a car to get between the village, the beach and the town.

4Porto-Pollo

On the north shore of the Valinco, a small seaside resort popular with families.

Allow about half an hour to Propriano, outside summer and without stopping. The prehistoric site of Filitosa, in the Taravo valley, is on this side of the gulf.

How to choose

Arriving by ferry: stay in the centre

Propriano has its own ferry port. If you come without a car, stay in the centre: the port and the restaurants are within walking distance.

Park at the entrance to town

The centre is small. In summer, leave the car at the entrance to town or near the beaches, and ask your accommodation where it recommends parking.

Outside the centre, plan on a car

Olmeto, Porto-Pollo and the southern beaches are car territory: shopping, restaurants and outings mean driving every day.

Book early by the water

For summer, book early, especially by the water. At Campomoro, at the end of the road, there is very little accommodation: do not wait to book.
