Hotels in Saint-Florent: where to stay, area by area

Four areas, from the lively port to the Nebbiu villages among the vines, with the places to stay we have chosen.

Best for

Saint-Florent is a small town at the head of its gulf, between Cap Corse and the Agriates desert. People stay here for the boats to Lotu, for Roya beach, for the vineyards of Patrimonio, or at the end of a day’s drive round the Cap. In our listings, hotels are few: the choice leans towards holiday residences and aparthotels, guest houses and apartments, mostly on the edge of town and in the villages of the Nebbiu.

We have divided the surroundings into four areas. The old town and the port, to do everything on foot, with the noise of summer evenings. Roya, along the beach, quieter and practical for families. The cathedral road, between the town and Oletta, a few minutes from the centre. Finally, the villages of the Nebbiu, Patrimonio, Oletta and Poggio-d’Oletta, on the hillsides facing the gulf. For the cathedral road and the Nebbiu, plan on a car.

Each area sets out our pointers, a “Best for” line and the places to stay we have chosen, with their dated Booking rating. On the map, each pin carries the number of its area. For the citadel, the beaches and the vineyards, see our Saint-Florent page.

The areas

Where to stay, area by area

4 areas, 15 places to stay · Visit Saint-Florent

1The old town and the port

In the thick of things, with restaurants and boat departures within walking distance. Noisy in summer. Boats to Lotu beach leave from the harbour.

Boats to Lotu beach leave from the marina, from April to October depending on the weather. Park at the entrance to the town: near the port, parking is difficult in summer.

Best for : on foot · lively in the evening

Only two places, a hotel and an aparthotel. For more choice a few minutes away, look along the cathedral road.

2Roya and the Bastia road

Along the beach, on the east side of the gulf: quieter and practical for families.

At the Roya, you can wade out a long way, which is reassuring with children. The customs officers’ path to the Agriates starts from the beach.

Best for : near the beach · with children · quiet

A hotel and two holiday complexes, near the beach: the area we recommend with children.

3The cathedral road

Between the town and Oletta, a few minutes from the centre.

The Nebbiu cathedral, one of the finest Romanesque churches on the island, stands beside the road as you leave town. To dine on the port in summer, set off early: parking there is difficult.

Best for : by car

The widest range in Saint-Florent: hotel, guest house, holiday complexes and an apartment, no more than 700 m from the cathedral.

4The villages of the Nebbiu

Patrimonio, Oletta, Poggio-d’Oletta: villages on the hillsides among the vines, looking out over the gulf.

Patrimonio is about 10 minutes from Saint-Florent, outside summer and without stopping. The estates welcome visitors, and every summer the village hosts the Nuits de la guitare.

Best for : by car

B&B and guest house, holiday home, apartment and a hotel, nearly all around Oletta; just one address is in Patrimonio.

Tips

How to choose

The port or peace and quiet

The old town and the port stay up late in summer: a pleasure if you go out, a nuisance if you go to bed early. For quieter nights, look at Roya, along the beach.

Boats to Lotu

They leave from the marina, from April to October, weather permitting. If you stay near the port, you can walk there; otherwise, park at the entrance to town. See Lotu beach.

With children

Roya beach stays shallow over a long distance, which is reassuring with children.

After the Cap tour

Saint-Florent is where the Cap Corse tour ends: a night here saves you driving on in the evening. To sleep in the Cap itself, see our places to stay in Cap Corse.

A dated rating

Each Booking rating carries the date we recorded it. Before booking, open the listing to check the location, parking and conditions.
