The Coscionu plateau
A superb walk to do virtually all year round, the Coscionu plateau at Corsicasituated at an altitude of 1725 metres, also offers superb panoramic views from the Punta di Sistaja.
Our tip: do the walk in autumn to admire the palette of colours in the beech forest around the Col de Sistaja. The Coscionu plateau is also very popular for its exceptional cross-country skiing.
A few tips for your walk
- Duration Duration: 5 to 6 hours with a difference in altitude of 600 to 800 metres depending on the route.
- The equipment 1:25,000 I.G.N. map, 42.53 W (Zicavo W), compass and altimeter.
- Itinerary To the south of Zicavo, about twelve kilometres along the D69, go as far as the Querci Bianchi bridge.
From here, 150 metres after this second bridge, you'll find the start of the trail, heading south to Pianu di menta (1,330 m), also known as A menta on some I.G.N. maps.
Then, on the left heading north-west towards Punta di Menta (go around it on the west side), you reach a second plateau: Poggio di Comitasca.
From here, leave the path in the direction of a rocky spur and walk around the large boulders, now heading north-north-east towards the beech forest (1,615 m). You can also extend the walk to the summit of Sistaja at 1,725 metres.
